Welcome to the Food Junkies Podcast. My name is Dr Vera Tarman and I am you cohost today, along with Clarissa Kennedy. Today we speak with Dr Corinde Wiers about the value of using a keto diet to control cravings – not only for alcohol and possibly other drugs, but also for food.

Dr. Corinde E. Wiers obtained her PhD in Psychology from the Berlin School of Mind and Brain in 2014. Her doctoral research focused on neurocognitive processes in alcohol use disorder.She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Center for Studies of Addiction, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wiers has expertise in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and their application to understanding brain mechanisms involved in substance cravings and addiction. Dr. Wiers was a key investigator in the study examining how a ketogenic diet affects alcohol withdrawal and neurobiological craving in individuals with alcohol use disorder.
