What It Takes for Treatment to be Successful
In addition to treatment, motivation, good health, and a great support system are all important for success. Alcohol abuse treatment is not a clear-cut process. It involves three major steps.
Detoxification –
This begins immediately after the individual takes his or her last drink and acknowledges the intent to not drink again. The individual may enter a detox center to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Rehabilitation –
This takes place after the actual detox and may involve medication and counseling. The rehabilitation may take place on an inpatient or outpatient basis, depending on the individual and the severity of the alcohol abuse.
Staying sober – Surprisingly enough, this part may be the most difficult period because it’s something that must take place every day for the rest of the individual’s life. The key to success is motivation, moral support and possibly attendance at AA meetings.
There are various Alcohol Abuse treatment programs available today. If you or a loved one is suffering from alcohol addiction, call our hotline for immediate help and for information regarding a program that may work for you.
