Alcoholism! 5 ways to help you in sobriety and How to help yourself with alcoholism. When going through sobriety. it is a hard time for anyone. In this video we discuses 5 ways to help you in sobriety.

1. 0:14 You have to start by going through all your friends and acquaintances to decide who you need around and who don’t. You need to eradicate bad people and influences from your life, so these people can not hinder your sobriety. There will be people out there who want you to fail, believe it or not. These people will want you to fail as they have insecurity themselves. They no they should be doing something regarding their health and sobriety and can’t bare to see other people succeeding in there quest. You just need to keep away from these people when your going through the early stages of sobriety. After time you will start to meet new people who don’t drink. You will eventually meet new friends and colleagues that don’t drink and also do other events after work that don’t involve alcohol. You need to ignore all the calls and text messages from these bad people. Your probably at a stage now where a lot of people don’t talk to you anymore. That’s what it was like for me, everybody had already given up. So no one would contact me anyway.

2. 2:15 Decide what you want to do. Do you want to go swimming, do you want to go hiking, do you want to run a marathon. You need to diced what cardiovascular workouts you want to do. Exercise is essential when you quit drinking alcohol because this help essentially with your depression and anxiety relating to your alcoholism. It has been proven over many year through loads of experiments and tests proving that exercise helps with depression. Doing fitness and exercise everyday helps with your cognitive thinking and also gives you something to aim at, gives you a goal to strive for. This does work and helps you measure what is getting done. The saying goes what gets measured gets done. If you decide to go to a gym or a fitness class. Try not to feel intimidated as these are intimidating places. But you need to get over this as part of your recovery. Just going to a public place like the gym everyday will help you get use to being in social situations without alcohol.

3. 4:48 Start making lists everyday, Write lists of stuff you want to do everyday. I do this as part of my job and daily grind. This is the best way of getting things done that need to be done. You don’t write down things that are impossible like tomorrow I’m going to maker a million pounds, or tomorrow I want to win the lottery. These things are not within your grasp. They are all way out of reach and not obtainable. The best thing you can do is find out what you need to do and start actioning those lists. This is the best way i have found out to get things moving in your life. I need to go to get my groceries, need to pick up my dry cleaning, need to go to the bank. These are the things you need to start writing down.things that you can do.

4. 6:15 Use the spare money you have to start educating yourself, learning and new trade a new a new skill and start getting out there in the world. During the process of doing this you will meet new people new cultures and ultimately meet you new life. You can whoever you want to be you just need to get out there and do it. Try to be positive and never be negative and go out there and soak up a bit of culture. It’s a big world out there and most of it you have never seen. Believe in yourself and smile a bit. You start being positive around people, then people will be positive about you. Smiling at people will change your life.

5. 7:20 Start to give back to other people, after a few week maybe start thinking about helping someone else. Just give a little back a little, maybe even over christmas you can lend a hand at your local food bank or soup kitchen. This will give you a bit of self worth and helping people always creates positivity in you and also in others. It’s the easiest thing to do and it doesn’t cost anything. Also I was brought up by my parents to understand that manners don’t cost a thing. So get your manners back and start educating yourself and help others after your alcoholism.
