A report on underage drinking among the youth in Kampala’s slums reveals that 69% started drinking at the age of 14.The report is a result of research carried out by a local organisation Uganda Youth Development Link between 12 to 18 year olds .
It also reveals that about 5 in every ten youth drink alcohol 2 or more times per week and almost 3 in 10 prefer drinking from sachets.The report comes as Uganda and the rest of the World mark the Alcohol Awareness Month.
