We discuss setting yourself a goal for your recovery and the importance of making a plan for once you have stopped drinking. We also talk about the small improvements you can make, such as trying to push forward in your career, travelling, and taking up new activities. Life can’t stay exactly the same once this change has been made, and in this video we discuss how these changes can be extremely important and can make big improvements to your life. Once you decide to make these changes and stop drinking, you are able to decide who you want to be and what you want to do, you can take control of your life and start to fix other problems that may have arisen.

Christmas can be hard for some people when suffering from alcoholism. It's really easy to get complacent with alcohol during this time. I to am not a great fan of christmas and all the alcoholic memories it brings. The memories of being drunk at christmas and also everything you have lost or not completed in your life. These regrets and doubts go through everyone's mind during christmas, but for alcoholics it does get very hard. some time its hard to resist the urge of going out and celebrating during the christmas period.

The best thing you can do if you are still drinking during this period is just to do what you always do. Don't go drink more than you normally drink, as you know you probably already drink at to your limit. So basically if you start drinking more during this period you will be putting yourself at a greater risk of harm. I have been there myself and you wake on christmas day thinking why.

You need to take yourself away from temptation during the early stages of your alcohol recovery. If there is a christmas party you need to attend then go later and offer to give people lifts home. This normally insures that you can't drink and results in a lot people being grateful for the lifts home. I sometime go away for christmas and take myself completely away from my local town and just have christmas in a different environment. You will be surprised how you can fit in anywhere at christmas in whatever country you land in.

So please stay safe this christmas and don't give in to temptation. You can do this please give this your best shot the christmas.
