Affleck took to social media to share his truth via a statement on his facebook page where he said: “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”
He gave special thanks to his co-parent Jen, who he said “has supported me and cared for our kids as I”ve done the work I set out to do.” TMZ reports that Affleck entered the facility for his recovery right after the Oscars a few weeks back. This is not his first time in rehab – he checked in to Promises in Malibu in 2001 for alcohol abuse. A source told E News that “he didn’t want to hide. He will continue to work on it. This was a step, but it’s a progressive process. He’s in a good place.” Some buzz reveals that Ben and his wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he’s going through a divorce, have decided not to separate and to stay married, but sources via TMZ say this is not the case. Regardless we’re always rooting for someone who is willing to admit that they need help and who is taking the steps towards recovery. We wish Ben and his family nothing but the best.
