We get this question a lot from families who are seeking to do an intervention on their loved one: “Are they going to eventually recover?” Many times what prevents an addict or alcoholic from successfully recovering or completing treatment is the family’s willingness to stick to their bottom line, even after treatment is initiated. Those who struggle with the addiction often have a hard time surrendering to the treatment plan. They think they can control the situation or think they can do this on their own. The family ends up being manipulated into believing that and will let their loved one come home early from treatment. We see this same problem over and over again. The family plays such a large role in the recovery.
