http://www.journeyhealingcenters.com – A strong batch of heroin is killing addicts in Salt Lake County. At least four people are dead and two others are critically injured.
Part of the reason is access. Heroin has never been so cheap. It’s selling for as little as $10. Cottonwood Heights Police Officer Beau Babka is extremely concerned. “We’ve seen a peak in heroin use lately,” he said.
A man selling heroin last month is recovering from his addiction problem at one of the Journey Healing Centers in Sandy. He agreed to talk about the problem if he could remain anonymous. He says demand for the drug is growing. “It all started with Percocet and OxyContin because they came more readily available,” he said. The prescription medications are gateway drugs to heroin. Heroin is less expensive and gives users a similar high.
