Elizabeth Pena Death Caused by Alcohol Abuse

It has been revealed that actress Elizabeth Pena’s death was due to complications from alcohol abuse. Pena died last week at 55 years old at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The La Bamba star’s death was originally said to be due from natural causes from an illness. However, her death certificate cited cirrhosis of the liver, cardiopulmonary arrest, as well as cardiogenic shock and acute gastrointestinal bleeding from her condition. Pena had a career spanning four decades, most recently playing Sofia Vergara’s mother in Modern Family. She is survived by her husband and two children.
