I’m more commonly asked how to help an addict or alcoholic than any question. Those who aren’t addicted are baffled. They don’t understand drug addiction or alcoholism and why they have no control over it. Helping an addict and helping an alcoholic starts with accepting you have no control. There’s no cure for addiction just as there’s no cure for alcoholism. To help an alcoholic or help someone addicted to drugs, it’s important to focus on our own recovery from how their addiction affects us.
