I take the easy way out
by routing all of my pain into the bottle
that models my life
showing the way I grieve
and try to make myself believe
there is more to life than pain but the only way to relieve
the heart ache is to avoid giving trust
to anyone because if you believe trust is a must
your going to be crushed
into the dust that makes the life
you strive to keep
from falling over the steep
edge of depression

which would leave you in a pit of aggression
fighting for a way out
of the doubt.
You have in love of other people
for fear that people dear
to you will get near
and leave you alone
to condone the consumption of your pain.
