Liam Payne Opens up about a drinking problem and the future of 1 Direction. Will they work together again? Find out now on Clevver News.
In a candid interview, Liam reveals that he went through a bad stage with alcohol and talks about the future of 1 Direction.
In his first solo interview since the band took a break, Liam gets extremely personal, revealing that he went through a QUOTE “pretty bad stage” with alcohol. The obvious consequence was a bit of a weight gain that sparked “ fat jibes” which Liam admits hurt him. But more of an issue was QUOTE “a few times that I went over the limit with things and then I had to pull it back.”
He remembers a fan event in which he showed up “a little bit drunk” and went as far as to admit that his drinking became issue enough to flare an intervention. And that intervention came from people around him, who said QUOTE ‘Look Liam, you need to chill out a bit now.'” He tributes one person in particular with helping him stay grounded, his girlfriend Sophia Smith.
And while Liam quit drinking, he says in the interview that he does not see himself as a role model and says QUOTE “It’s a difficult thing to place pressure on you when you’re so young. I’m going to mess up from time to time… sometimes I let my guard down a little too much.”
Well, Liam definitely let his guard down in this interview and even talked about the future of 1 Direction. He says QUOTE “I realize now this is the time to start branching out and exploring…[this is the] first time I have done something on my own.” But don’t worry directioners, he vowed that the band will make music together again.
