Mental effects of alcohol and tips how to break alcohol addiction. In today’s video I talk about some of the mental effects alcohol has on us. Firstly note that I am only talking about excessive drinking and not occasional one.

Alcohol directly effects our brain chemicals, mostly on Serotonine. This is a brain chemical that is responsible for feeling good. Whenever you feel good that is your serotonine being produced. Alcohol amps it up, when you drink it produces a lot of serotonine and that is the reason why you feel very good and happy.
What it also does is that next day your serotonine is being crashed and your brain doesn’t produce much. That is why when you have hangover you feel down.

By drinking alcohol, you experience bad sleep, therefore it affect our brain function due to lack of recovery.

Second mental effect alcohol has is that it messes up our memory. quite often we do not remember what we did when we were drunk. This is a short term memory loss, however in the long term, even if you are not drunk you still forget things like what you ate for lunch and so on.
