A section of legislators from Murang’a county have raised concern over increased cases of alcohol and drug abuse among school going children.
The leaders who were speaking during Kigumo sub county education day claim that learning for a majority of the boys has been affected as a result of alcohol and drug abuse. Maragua member of parliament Mary Waithera urged police officers to close bars located near schools and apprehend people found selling alcohol to students. The leaders noted that years back, the county used to be among the best in national examinations but now they are lagging behind due to drug abuse.
