Scientists Study Chimps Drinking Alcohol

They have shown an understanding of language and even a sense of fairness, and humans’ closest primate cousins have now been found to share a taste for alcohol. Scientists studying chimpanzees in the Republic of Guinea recorded them using leaves in “sessions” of drinking fermented palm sap. It was even reported that some drank enough alcohol to produce “visible signs of inebriation.
