According to a new study, two pathways in the reward center of the brain may be manipulated to help treat people suffering from alcohol addiction. The reward center of the brain, the dorsal striatum, regulates the go pathway which encourages rewarding behavior and the no-go pathway that halts behavior. Researchers discovered that alcohol-induced alterations in the signaling of the two pathways encourage alcohol consumption which can lead to alcohol abuse and addiction. Dr.
